Charleston Metro Tennis Areas

The Charleston Metro Area — including Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, West Ashley, James Island, and Daniel Island — is one of the premier tennis destinations in the United States. Officially recognized as America's Best Tennis Town by the USTA in 2010, the area is home to the Credit One Charleston Open — the largest women's-only professional tennis tournament in North America. Held each April at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island, the WTA 500 event attracts approximately 90,000 spectators annually and has been voted WTA 500 Tournament of the Year four consecutive years (2022–2025). The stadium, along with the adjacent LTP Daniel Island complex — featuring 17 courts including 13 Har-Tru clay courts — forms the centerpiece of Charleston's world-class tennis infrastructure.

Across the Charleston Metro Area, players have access to a robust network of public and private tennis facilities. The City of Charleston Tennis Division operates numerous courts highlighted by the Charleston Tennis Center and Maybank Tennis Center on James Island, offering USTA-sanctioned leagues, clinics, and professional instruction. Premier private club options include the Daniel Island Club, Seabrook Island Racquet Club, Snee Farm Country Club, and LTP Mount Pleasant — all offering competitive leagues, junior academies, private lessons, and year-round programming.
