Charlotte is one of the largest and most active tennis markets in the Southeast -- a sprawling metro with premier private clubs, an extensive public court network, and year-round outdoor play driven by the city's mild Piedmont climate. With a population exceeding 900,000 in the city proper and over 2.7 million across the greater metro, Charlotte supports a depth of tennis infrastructure matched by few cities in the Carolinas. Charlotte Country Club and Myers Park Country Club represent the city's most storied private tennis traditions, each fielding competitive USTA teams and robust junior development programs on immaculate clay and hard court surfaces. Swim and Racquet Club of Charlotte, Carmel Country Club, and a dense network of neighborhood and HOA clubs extend competitive and recreational play throughout the city's southern, northern, and eastern corridors.
The Charlotte Tennis Association (CTA) coordinates USTA league play across Mecklenburg County and the broader metro, making Charlotte one of USTA Carolina's largest league markets with thousands of registered adult and junior players competing at all NTRP levels year-round. Charlotte Parks and Recreation maintains public court facilities distributed across the city's park system -- including courts at Freedom Park, Ranson Recreation Center, and numerous neighborhood facilities -- providing accessible tennis to players who prefer public play without a club membership. The suburbs of Ballantyne, Huntersville, Concord, and Matthews each support their own active club and public court communities, feeding into the metro-wide league and tournament circuit. Davidson College Wildcats (NCAA Division I, Atlantic 10), Queens University of Charlotte Royals (NCAA Division I, ASUN), and UNC Charlotte 49ers (NCAA Division I, American Athletic Conference) anchor the area's Division I collegiate tennis scene, with Pfeiffer University Falcons (NCAA Division III, USA South) rounding out a multi-division collegiate landscape.
Whether you are looking for competitive tournaments, organized doubles leagues, junior summer camps, or a private lesson anywhere across the Queen City, Charlotte offers year-round tennis for players of every age and skill level.

Charlotte Country Club and Myers Park Country Club are the city's most storied private league hubs, each fielding multiple USTA teams across NTRP levels on clay and hard courts. Carmel Country Club, Swim and Racquet Club of Charlotte, and clubs in Ballantyne, Huntersville, and Concord extend competitive play throughout the metro's north, south, and east corridors. High school tennis in the Charlotte metro is governed by the NCHSAA. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) compete primarily across the Southwestern 4A Conference, Mecklenburg County Athletic Conference, and Piedmont Athletic Conference. Cabarrus County and Union County schools competing in the broader Charlotte metro area participate in the Rocky River Athletic Conference respectively. Private and independent schools compete under the NCISAA.
