Pahrump is the largest town in Nye County, home to more than 44,000 people — and it has two tennis courts. That is the thinnest provision of any market in our Nevada coverage: Laughlin has the same two courts for a population barely a fifth the size. A national court directory lists no leagues, no tournaments and no registered coaching in the town at all.
The good news is recent and worth knowing. The Town of Pahrump has renovated the tennis and pickleball courts at Petrack Park and reopened them — two lit courts in a 34.7-acre park on Highway 160, open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and free. For a town this size that is a start rather than a scene, but the lights matter in a desert valley, and there is rarely a queue. For clubs, leagues and coaching, the Las Vegas Valley is 60 miles east over the Spring Mountains.

Before you go — set expectations, then use the lights. Pahrump has two tennis courts, both at Petrack Park, both free and unstaffed. They were recently renovated and they are lit until 10 p.m., which is the single most useful fact here: in a desert valley, evening play is the season. The courts are shared with pickleball, so expect company. Court provision at Ian Deutch Memorial Park was not confirmed — call the town before relying on it. Pahrump sits in Nye County and its schools run under the Nye County School District — unlike Laughlin, Mesquite and Boulder City, all of which belong to the vast Clark County district. It is also unincorporated, governed by a town board rather than a city council.

There is no college tennis in Pahrump. Players continuing in the sport head into the Las Vegas Valley, about 60 miles east, where UNLV plays Division I Mountain West tennis at the Fertitta Tennis Complex and the College of Southern Nevada operates campuses across the metro. The gap is the story, and it cuts both ways. A town of 44,000 with two public courts, no clubs and no registered coaching is plainly underserved — but it is also a market with a growing population, a town government that has just invested in renovating its courts, and no competition. That is a more interesting position than most places this page could describe.
