Tennis in Summerlin
Read this first if you don’t live here. Summerlin’s village tennis courts are not public in the ordinary sense. They run on a community reservation system: you need a Summerlin Resident I.D. card and a purchased Tennis Reservation Card, and courts are booked by phone, Monday to Friday only. One booking a day, three a week. It is the most organised — and most restricted — tennis system in the Las Vegas Valley.
What it protects is genuinely good. The Summerlin Tennis Club at The Arbors has five lighted courts including a stadium court, a pro shop and a full-time professional, with junior development running from age three. Red Rock Country Club has nine courts, among the largest club sets in the city; Sun City Summerlin runs 12 lighted courts across three centres for its 55-plus residents; and Life Time has three indoor courts — a rarity in this valley. Add Faith Lutheran and Bishop Gorman, and Summerlin holds much of Nevada’s best scholastic tennis too.

Faith Lutheran’s Second Straight Title
The Crusaders’ boys beat Palo Verde for the 2025 Class 5A team state championship — their second in a row. The programme played its home matches at the Darling Tennis Center from 2010 to 2021.
5A Individual Finals at Bishop Gorman
Gorman hosted the 2025 Class 5A individual championships, where its own freshman Lucas Rago took the boys’ singles state title — a notable result for a first-year player at the top classification.

Before you go — check whether you are eligible. Most courts above are residents-only: the Summerlin village courts need a Resident I.D. card and a Tennis Reservation Card, Peccole Ranch is limited to its own association, Sun City is 55-plus residents, and Red Rock and TPC are private clubs. Bookings go through the reservation line Monday to Friday, and cancellations are email only by 3 p.m. the day before. Note too that private coaching is not allowed at the Arbors Park courts. Competitive Adult Tennis
Summerlin runs its own seasonal men’s and women’s leagues through the Summerlin Tennis Club, on top of the wider USTA Nevada district structure within USTA Intermountain. The local rule is worth knowing: teams must be at least 75 percent Summerlin residents, and team fees are charged at $15 per resident player and $50 per non-resident — so a visiting player can join in, but the community keeps its leagues local by design. Three valley communities, three completely different ways of getting on a court. Two highlights:
The Las Vegas Valley has three separate tennis systems. Las Vegas runs one big public centre plus first-come park courts. Henderson lets anyone book online, 48 hours to a week ahead. Summerlin restricts its village courts to residents holding an I.D. card and a Reservation Card, booked by phone on weekdays only. Same metro, three different answers to “can I play here?”
Summerlin schools took both 2025 boys’ 5A honours. Faith Lutheran won the team title for the second year running, and at the individual finals hosted by Bishop Gorman, a Gorman freshman — Lucas Rago — won the singles championship. Both schools sit inside this one community.

What Summerlin supplies is the tier below. There is no college tennis inside the community, but between the Summerlin Tennis Club’s development pathway from age three, two state-championship high school programmes at Faith Lutheran and Bishop Gorman, and the club coaching at Red Rock, it produces players rather than hosting them. UNLV matches are free to watch and a short drive east.

An unusual concentration for one community. Faith Lutheran, Bishop Gorman and Palo Verde are three of the strongest 5A tennis programmes in Nevada, and all sit in or beside Summerlin. In 2025 Faith Lutheran beat Palo Verde for a second straight boys’ team title, Bishop Gorman hosted the individual finals and produced the boys’ singles champion, and Palo Verde reached both 5A team finals.
Palo Verde’s girls had a five-year run. Five consecutive state team championships ended in 2025 when Coronado beat them in Henderson — covered on our Henderson guide. Nevada’s 5A is dominated by Clark County schools, so these results are valley-wide, not local.
Nevada plays both seasons in the autumn under the NIAA — unlike Arizona, which also runs boys and girls together but in the spring. Confirm current classifications before the season; Clark County classifications shift with enrolment.
