Central Mountains High School Tennis

Every high school across the market’s two valleys — the Wood River Valley (Blaine County, IHSAA District IV) and the McCall–Long Valley area (IHSAA District III). The two groups compete in separate districts, meeting only at the state tournament.

Where can I play tennis in Sun Valley and Ketchum?

The Sun Valley Resort Tennis & Pickleball Center plays on 17 hard courts and is open to the public for booking, with clinics, camps and a pro shop. Public outdoor courts are available at Atkinson Park in Ketchum and Wood River High School in Hailey, while Elkhorn’s Harker courts and HOA courts serve amenity-pass holders and residents. Leagues and junior play run through Wood River Tennis and the Idaho Tennis Association.

Is there indoor or winter tennis in the area?

Yes — more than most Idaho markets. The Wood River Valley has indoor courts at Zenergy in Ketchum and Gravity Fitness & Tennis in Hailey, and McCall has indoor tennis at Whitetail Club. With a short summer at altitude, these indoor courts keep play going through the long mountain winters.

Is there college tennis in the central mountains?

No. The Sun Valley–Ketchum and McCall areas have no four-year college tennis. The nearest varsity programs are Boise State University and the College of Idaho in Caldwell, both to the south in the Treasure Valley.

Does the area offer USTA leagues or junior programs?

Yes. The region is part of USTA Intermountain through the Idaho Tennis Association, with Wood River Tennis organizing clinics and leagues across the valley and McCall Parks & Recreation running USTA-supported summer junior tennis. Can I play the Sun Valley Resort courts if I’m not a guest?

Yes — the Sun Valley Resort Tennis & Pickleball Center’s courts are open to the public for reservations. Many other valley courts, including Elkhorn’s Harker Center, Zenergy and The Valley Club, are private or members/amenity-pass only, while Atkinson Park and Wood River High School are open public courts.
