Texas high school tennis is governed by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), using a classification system instead of conferences. Schools compete through district play, regional playoffs, and the state championship pathway.

Adult tennis in Texas is one of the strongest competitive ecosystems in the country, with year-round league play, local tournaments, doubles ladders, mixed doubles, club events, and USTA competition across Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Plano, Laredo, Waco, and other active tennis markets.
USTA League Tennis is highly active across Texas, with thousands of players competing in local, sectional, and national pathways. Adult 18 & Over, 40 & Over, and 55 & Over divisions run year-round, alongside Mixed Doubles and Tri-Level formats, with strong participation in both metro and regional markets.
Texas teams consistently perform at the highest level nationally. At the 2025 USTA League National Championships, Texas placed teams in the top four across 15 different divisions, with national titles won by:
Texas teams also reached the National Final in Houston (Adult 40 & Over 4.5 Women), Austin (Adult 40 & Over 4.5 Men), San Antonio (Mixed 40 & Over 8.0), and Colleyville (Adult 55 & Over 6.0 Women), with additional top-four finishes from Waco, Carrollton, Garland, and Addison.
With top-four national finishes coming from ten different Texas cities in a single season, the state remains one of the deepest and most competitive USTA League sections in the country.
Adult tournament play in Texas ranges from local club events to USTA-sanctioned tournaments and national-level competitions. Players compete across NTRP and Open divisions, with strong draw sizes and year-round scheduling.
Texas players regularly compete at the USTA NTRP National Championships, the country's premier level-based adult tournament series, with singles, doubles, and mixed doubles draws across the 18 & Over, 40 & Over, and 55 & Over age divisions and NTRP levels from 2.5 to 5.5.
Texas's role as a national tournament hub is reinforced by Houston's Giammalva Racquet Club hosting the 2026 NTRP National Doubles Championships (18 & Over divisions).
